Semester 2 final Platter

Construation

This was a fairly simple platter to make, first I started off by making a rounded triangle and tilting the sides of it up with some clay, then once I smoothed it  and added all of the leaves and stem I let it dry, and then once it was dry I sanded it to make it smoother. I then first painted it with under glaze while it was still green ware, and then once it was fired I out a clear glaze over top of it. I noticed that I thought I put enough clear glaze but there were some splotches that weren't as shiny as the rest.

Improvemets

If I could go back and change some things that I did I would change how much clear glaze I put on it. I would definitely put more layers, I also noticed that there are some rough spots and I should've spent more time sanding. But this time instead of procrastating it was one of the first things I did in unit 6. I also think that I should've made the platter bigger so that it could fit more things on it. But overall I am really happy with how it turned out. I also noticed that while I was under glazing this it was starting to crack, this happens to me a lot and I don't know why  it does.

Theme

My theme is different chocolate covered stuff, I chose to do a strawberry because that is my favorite chocolate covered thing. I plan on bringing in chocolate covered bananas and strawberries, and other things if I can find them.
